The 4M50, compliant with China Non-Road Stage IV emission standards, is equipped with the BOSCH Common Rail System (CRS) and features an upgraded Engine Control Unit — the next-generation MD1 controller. Compared to the Stage III specification, the engine offers richer control logic and more comprehensive functionality. The MD1 controller is built on a unified powertrain platform compatible with gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuels, and is designed for long-term application across a wide range of vehicles and machinery, delivering comprehensive solutions to meet diverse customer needs.

Leveraging extensive practical experience gained in the commercial vehicle sector, Mitsubishi FUSO industrial engines have also adopted advanced aftertreatment technology. With minimal modifications to the base engine, they effortlessly meet the requirements of China's upcoming Non-Road Stage IV emission regulations.
Mitsubishi FUSO's technology roadmap for Non-Road Stage IV compliance is primarily based on two key systems: EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) and ATS (Aftertreatment System). The EGR system effectively reduces NOx levels in combustion exhaust, while the ATS captures particulate matter (PM) from the exhaust and removes it through regeneration, ultimately achieving clean emissions.
In addition, it also includes DOC temperature sensor, DPF temperature sensor, and DPF differential pressure sensor. The engine controller will accurately control the regeneration of DPF based on the feedback information from the sensors.
